The album on the BurningMan Mutant Vehicles Tribe is intended to be an "Incomplete History" of Mutant Vehicles,
tribes.tribe.net/bmmv
The DMV and Art Cars. It's main purpose is to educate MV creators and DMV Volunteers. I hope you find it useful and please add comments. The DMV works on consensus of an average of 250 Volunteers. Behind the scene a tough job of pre-playa review is just a small part of our work. Just like the real DMV, we are the "Clerk of the Works". We closely interact with the creators, document the approved for playa vehicles, review on site for conformance with the creators application intent and execution. All of these steps, computer documentation and registration are so you, the Mutant Vehicle Creator can "do what you do". We work closely with the BLM and LEO's to keep the MV fleet rolling, registered and responsible. Take a look through the Photo Album, learn from the comments selected from past DMV literature, my comments and others and hopefully yours.
Take note of how each year the Mutants have improved as the bar is raised by the increased creativity of your fellow BRC citizens. Tens of thousands will attend, a thousand will apply and on an average about 1 - 2 percent of the total population will have the unique opportunity for motive conveyance. We look for vehicles that surpass the advantage of power with their moving image. Consider the bold static creations unique to Burning Man. It takes more than a good wrench and most MV's are the results of creative forces combined for design, execution and ability for safe operation.
The DMV expects you the creator to design, construct, and operate with a constant eye towards safety.

Re: The DMV and Mutant Vehicles
Tue, April 13, 2010 - 7:57 AMOh look, here's a Facebook fan page for BM DMV:
www.facebook.com/
Looks like that's being updated with tips and stuff:
"Tip: The sooner you send in your Mutant application, the sooner you get an answer back. Don't wait until the deadline, otherwise you could be waiting weeks or longer for your response. A detailed drawing of what your vehicle *will be* is just as acceptable (and often better) as in-progress photos."

Re: The DMV and Mutant Vehicles
Thu, April 15, 2010 - 6:41 PMNice, now all I have to do is finish the new art ship in time for the event. If I do, and I will, be prepared for the bestest art car to hit the alkali in many years. I'll post a couple images of what it's going to look like. If there's anyone out there in the Bay Area that wants to help build the bestest art car ever then let me know cause I can always use help. It's a big project building a half scale frigate that will be able to actually sail across the playa... La Contessa, I loved you but, eat your heart out... Get ready for the Argonaut.
