Oh, the marine throttle was 20 bucks on ebay. It has two arms and simple servo looking arms for the mechanics. Super easy for the throttle.

I have extended driving controls for our car. (madame astrolabe) I drive from the deck, standing up. I used gears and single speed bike chain (cause it is burly) for the steering. Unfortunatly, with this setup the angle of the steering wheel has to match the angle of the do-hickey on the vehicle. There is a few ways around that but we never had time or the money to get the parts so we went with the angle. THe brake, we just pulled out the master cylinder and moved the whole thing up to the decka and increased the length of the hydraulic lines, works like a charm. For the throttle. I put in a marine throttle, since it is a boat, and just used pulleys and cables to make it work. THe boat moves around mostly with just the idle anyway. It is a 350 chevy with 4wd so it just wants to roll forward at 15 mph. I do goose it sometimes to get through the deep stuff, esspecially last year with the big drifts at burningman. And i live in a rural area so the throttle comes in handy when I drive it around the neighborhood. And the shifter, I attached the shifter to the other arm on the marine throttle. I used steel rod with bolts for hinges and attached those directly to the shifter arm coming out of the trans. It is totally gilligans island but it works. We have had a few issues with the steering chain coming off, but we have worked it out. Basically, you need some flex in the system but you don't want too much. So finding that sweet spot might take some trial and error. The one addition I highly recommend is a cooling fan that is always on. They are super easy to install, you just havre to get the rotation direction right so it isn't fighting the cars fan. It goes on the front of the radiator and runs off of the 12v. No overheating issues at all. Peace.

I extended the gas, brake and clutch with alum. L channel and 2x4's. I extended the steering with straight exhaust pipe.

Needless to say, I didn't have much money to work with.

I'll post a picture.

Have done this for a strictly mechanical system; I used roller chain for gas, brake and steering. If you've got hydraulic controls or can go that route it gets a lot easier.

Does anyone have or know someone who has experience extending driving controls (steering, gas, brake) on top of a vehicle. We want to be able to drive the bus from the top?
