The Burning Man DMV just sent me primary approval for my Interstellar Pleasure Barge.
Hurray.
Now I need to get back to work.
I'm looking for a 12v, 3-way solenoid valve and I'm so frugal I don't want to spend a lot of money on one. While this component is going to be used on my "art car" this is maybe not the sort of thing most art car creators know anything about.
But maybe you do?
Any ideas on where I might be able to get these sorts of things locally? I live in Minneapolis and haven't found any good sources. The hardware employees just look at me like I'm alien when I say "solenoid valve" to them.

Re: Solenoid Valves?
Sat, July 28, 2007 - 6:41 AMNo, I'm just controlling the flow of compressed air (15-50 psi).

Fri, July 27, 2007 - 8:50 PMPlan B: head on over to Bataeff Salvage in Santa Rosa and scrounge around. Last weekend we found an assembly in the back that had 4 solenoid valves and 4 pressure regulators and a pile of quick-connect fittings for all of $25.-. -

Sat, July 28, 2007 - 6:43 AMIf it weren't a 2,051 mile drive for me I would definitely consider that. It sounds like my kinda place.

Re: Solenoid Valves?
Fri, July 27, 2007 - 10:07 PMIs this for air? gasoline? water? and what pressure?
Remember that two on-off valves plus a relay is the same as a 3 way valve...
Normally closed solenoid valves can be a lot easier to find.

Re: Solenoid Valves?
Sat, July 28, 2007 - 6:47 AM10-50 psi air.
I prefer the tighter package of the 3-way, of course, but I'll take whatever I can get (as long as it's 12v).

Re: Solenoid Valves?
Sat, July 28, 2007 - 6:57 AMIt occurs to me that a 12v, 2-way, normally open solenoid valve (10-50 psi, air) would be just fine as well. I have no idea if a NO 2-way is easier to find than a 3-way.
I live in the land of the Mall of America yet it has NO solenoid valve stores. Geez. -

Sun, July 29, 2007 - 2:47 PMI believe I was on their site at some point but somehow failed to find their products listing. I blame Google fatigue.
Thanks, those will do nicely.
