Hey, everyone.
I have a 36-volt golf cart that we've turned into a covered wagon. It has 6 deep-cycle batteries, and it's a 1985 EZ-Go. I wanted to bring a generator/solar charger/comnbination of both with me in case I run out of juice on the playa. What do I get?? I understand the basics of electricity but not really all the math.
Thanks, everyone!

Re: What kind of GENERATOR do I buy for my ART CAR??
Thu, July 10, 2008 - 7:14 PMBoth Honda and Yamaha make excellent little gennies that will supply enough juice to recharge your ride.
Presumably, you already have a charger for the 36 volt system. Just fire up the Gennie, and plug 'er in. Fill up the Gennie with gas before you depart. You may also want to bring a small amount of gas in a plastic gas container for a back up fuel supply.
My best advice is - get a quiet one! Forget about the cheapo gennies from Pep Boys or Costco. They may be fine, but they're probably loud as hell and fumey.
Good luck baby.

Re: What kind of GENERATOR do I buy for my ART CAR??
Tue, July 15, 2008 - 9:46 PMI like Hondas; I've got a 2kw and it's dead quiet. What I'd do different: get one big enough to have an electric starter. I actually pulled my shoulder out of joint trying to start the bloody thing once! Whatever model you get make sure you know how to service the carburetor and how to clean the air filtration system. These are two items that need constant attention on Playa..
