Mutant/art car clubs in Los Angeles

Rinny Sun, September 11, 2011 - 3:50 PM by Rinny

Hello, all.

I was wondering if any of you knew of any mutant vehicle/art car guilds, groups, or clubs in Los Angeles? I would love to join one. I don't know much about cars, but I really want to learn as much as I can about building one for the next BM in a couple years time or so. Thanks for any advice, info you can spare.

Hey man, I'm in OC building an art car for BM 2012. My email is jgarth55@gmail.com if you want to chat about it. I can send you some photos and things and talk about what I'm up to. When you get rolling, we can trade pictures, videos and stories! It'll give us some ideas and hopefully spark that little creative art car bug inside all of us. =)

I've been thinking about building one for 2012 in the OC too. It would be based on an Isuzu NPR stake bed truck. Currently I'm still designing it and trying to figure out logistics (where to park and work on it, welding, etc). The general concept is a sinking freighter, with the front 500 feet under the sand and just the bridge and pilot house showing, in sort of half scale. I'm a mechanical engineer so the fun part to me is designing, so for now I've just been sketching and rendering, and searching Craigslist for a cheap commercial truck.

It's on! The sinking ship is chronicled here: mutantship.blogspot.com

Let me know if you want to help. I was welding yesterday. The build is happening in Santa Ana near the 5 & 55.
